What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar — the month the Quran was first revealed. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.

Fasting (Sawm)

Muslims abstain from food, drink, and marital relations from Fajr to Maghrib. Fasting teaches self-discipline, empathy for the poor, and gratitude for Allah's blessings.

Laylat al-Qadr

The Night of Decree in the last ten nights of Ramadan — better than a thousand months. Muslims increase worship seeking this blessed night.

Eid al-Fitr

At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr — a festival of gratitude, community prayer, charity (Zakat al-Fitr), and visiting family.
